High-Power Controller Built for Modern Access Control

The CEM Systems DCM 200 is an intelligent, cost-effective two-door controller with integrated PoE++ connectivity. With high-power PoE, even after powering the DCM 200 controller, there remains a 5A power budget available to support two fully resilient door sets, ensuring robust performance without additional power supplies.

  • Two-door intelligent controller with integrated PoE++ connectivity
  • Compliant with IEEE 802.3bt standard (up to 71.3 W)
  • Provides up to 71W of power via a single CAT5e/6 & higher cable (13.5V DC output, maximum current: 5.281A)
  • Powers the DCM 200 Controller (approximately 3.125 W), leaving 5A available to support other door devices & furniture — including up to two heavy-duty maglocks per door, four IN/OUT readers, and additional accessories such as door holders and sounders
  • No local mains power required at the door — ideal for projects with limited electrical access
  • Onboard intelligent battery charging and backup
  • Compatible with an IEEE 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W) PoE++ Midspan for high-power applications
  • PoE fail and battery low sensors with auto-restart after power restoration

Secure Power for Two Fully Resilient Door Sets

The DCM 200 works in conjunction with the PoE++ Midspan power injector between the AC2000 network and the controlled door. It provides sufficient power for itself and door hardware, including up to four readers (IN/OUT), two heavy-duty maglocks per door, and other devices such as door holders and sounders — all via a single CAT 5e/6 (or higher) network cable.

High-power PoE is injected by the Midspan to power the DCM 200 controller and complete door furniture.

CEM Systems recommends using an IEEE 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W) PoE++ Midspan to ensure full compatibility and optimal performance. For more information please contact CEM Systems directly.

How the System Works

By transmitting both power and data through a single CAT5e/6 (or higher) Ethernet cable, the DCM 200 PoE eliminates the need for local mains power at each controlled door. This significantly reduces installation time, cabling complexity, and electrical infrastructure costs — while providing greater flexibility for system designers and integrators.

Designed for seamless integration with CEM OSDPv2 ioSmart DESFire readers and other third-party readers, the DCM 200 PoE provides a robust, high-performance panel-based access control solution.

Leveraging existing IP network infrastructure, PoE-enabled access control ensures full power delivery for demanding door sets, making it ideal for new builds, retrofit projects, and locations with limited electrical access. The result is a fully network-powered, cost-effective, and future-ready access control solution.

Power over Ethernet benefits and installation advantages

  • Simplified installation: Delivers power and data over a single ethernet cable, leveraging existing IP network infrastructure
  • Cost savings: Eliminates local mains wiring and fused spurs, reducing overall installation and commissioning costs
  • Flexible deployment: Place controllers, card readers, and door hardware in optimal locations without nearby power outlets. Ideal for projects with limited electrical access or minimal cabling
  • Centralised power management: Supports UPS backup, remote monitoring, and streamlined maintenance for operational resilience

By requiring only one cable per access-controlled door to power all door hardware, the DCM 200 PoE solution significantly reduces cabling requirements, simplifies installation, and delivers substantial cost savings, particularly in large-scale projects or new purpose-built buildings.

Intelligent Power, Built-In Reliability

The DCM 200 PoE also features onboard battery backup that dynamically manages charging and supplements power during peak demand. Short power boosts cover intermittent load spikes, preventing midspan overload and ensuring continuous, reliable operation — making it a resilient solution for high-security environments.
